FIEStool master frames

Whenever new calibration data are taken using the fies-calibs script, the calibration data are automatically reduced into master frames. Each set of master frames is stored.

It should always be best to create master frames using calibration frames that were taken as part of your run. However, you may want to copy over another set of master frames as a starting point (first guess) for the reduction with FIEStool. This to limit manual interaction to a minimum for the order definition and for the wavelength solution.

Recent sets of master frames can be found on our FTP server. For older sets, please contact staff.

To be able to use these masterframes in your personal FIEStool, you have to use the same file names and parameters as are used at the NOT. In the window 'Edit all settings' make sure the file names and parameters agree, and pay in particular attention to the values of the following boxes:

Values for the new CCD (CCD15):
Order definition reference    ...../master_orderdef.fits
Wavelength reference frame waveref.fits
Master wavel. ref. frame ...../master_waveref.fits
x_start 101
x_end 2149
y_start 46
y_end 2049

Values for the old CCD (CCD13):
Order definition reference    ...../master_orderdef.fits
Wavelength reference frame waveref.fits
Master wavel. ref. frame ...../master_waveref.fits
x_start 51
x_end 2098
y_start 3
y_end 2048
