The grism wheel balancer is a tool that is used to balance the grism wheel of ALFOSC. The grism wheel is a rotating wheel that contains the grisms that are used for alfosc spectroscopy. Each grism has a weight, and if they are installed in such a way that causes a significant inbalance, the wheel will not rotate smoothly and the grism wheel may fail. This tool is used to check the balance of the grism wheel and to correct any imbalance.
The current criterion for balance is that the weight difference between any two halves of the wheel should be less than 180g. This tool is currently limited to only allowing 1 empty position.
