A course in observation astrophysics was organized by Stockholm University using the telescope over a period 5 nights in May, and a NORFA-sponsored summer school used the telescope over a period of 6 nights in July.
Both courses were well organized, and properly prepared in advance. Apart from some work mostly by the computer group in advance, the course in May did not need much support beyond the standard introduction to the telescope and instrument for ALFOSC and NOTCam on two separate nights.
The NOT involvement in the summer school was much more extensive. A significant amount of support was needed from the computer group to set-up the computers and prepare the network for use by the different student groups to reduce and analyze their data. Furthermore, one member of the NOT staff was a teacher at the school, while also effectively being in charge of organizing all local matters (hotel bookings, food, transport, etc.). In addition, there was a significant involvement from the NOT students who all jointed the summer school, but also helped with the local organization and the night-time astronomical support.
