With the current situation for the wheel bearings we need to consider how often we need to replace the bearings, i.e., how often is a warm-up of the instrument necessary. One idea is to test one of the bearings extensively to determine its expected lifetime.
Possibly a new and more thorough procedure for treating the bearings will be introduced in the future.
