An important feature of the new rules for the allocation of observing time (see above), is that any observing time that is lost to regular programs due to ToO or Monitoring observations will in principle be compensation in service mode. These observations will be executed during the Nordic service nights, and this will require some changes to the system. However, all proposals, including regular observing proposals, are already included in our data base system, and we expect that integrating such compensation observations in our fast-track system to not require a lot of work.
Also, the new rules for the allocation of observing time and corresponding user contributions will apply as of period 51, where the fast-track program will be available for Nordic PIs at no extra cost. In case of a non-Nordic fast-track program, the full contribution for service observing (assuming 10 hr per full night) will have to be provided.
