New kind of supernova explosion reveals a naked star
Jesper Sollerman and his team from Stockholm University participate in
a study revealing a new kind of exploding stars, one that is
stripped of all the most common elements in the Universe.
They have used the NOT, as well as Keck and the VLT to study this
special object which reveals new information about how stars are
structured and about mass-loss phases before the explosion.
See Stockholm University press release.
The results are published in
Schulze et al. 2025, Nature 644, 634-639
