A new third generation intensified TV camera was purchased to replace the aging existing guide camera. The camera was installed and commissioned in March 2005. A rough estimate of its performance indicates it to be at least 3 mag better than the old camera. For many of the guide stars selected for our guide star catalog a gray filter (-5 mag) is needed and under good conditions we should be able to use guide stars down to 17 mag. In fact, this is significantly deeper than the guide star catalog we are currently using and we are looking to replace the old (from 1989) guide star catalog with a new version which will drastically increase the number of stars available. This will also make it feasible to find suitable guide stars when FRED is mounted. Currently we are also transporting the guide star server software to a none IDL version.
